10/3/2008 - More cash for Copeland youngsters

Early years groups in Copeland are set to benefit from £11,000 in county council funding.

At their meeting today (10 March), members of Cumbria County Council’s Local Committee for Copeland agreed to provide grants to the following groups:

* £7,000 to help develop detailed plans for a new nursery, community centre, kitchen and meeting room in Haverigg;

* £2,000 towards new play equipment for Mirehouse’s New Rainbow playgroup;

* £2,000 to help Arlecdon out-of-school group build a new outdoor play area.

Councillor Ronnie Calvin, Chairman of the Copeland Local Committee, said: "These grants will help make a real difference to the lives of young people in Copeland.

"I am delighted that the Copeland Local Committee has been able to give this support."
