20/3/2008 - Latest edition of 4us goes out to young people

The latest edition of 4us, the county council's magazine for children and young people with special needs and their families, has been sent out across the county just in time for the Easter holidays.

In this Spring 2008 edition, there is a feature on Cerebral Palsey, plus information about different activities taking place and groups meeting all over Cumbria. The publication also provides information about local support groups, as well as national campaigns.

The 4us magazine goes out three times a year, and is produced by the county council's Children's Information Service.

4us currently goes out to around 200 children and young people around the county, but the Information Service is always looking to hear from people that may be missing from their list who would like to receive the publication. 4US is always on the look out for ideas for features and articles as well.

The Children's Information Service would also like to hear from professionals working in the field of children and young people with disabilities, who may have examples of good practice or ideas.

Jim Buchanan is Cumbria County Council's Cabinet member for Children's Wellbeing. He said:

"We are committed to providing services and information to children and young people with disabilities, their families, and the professionals who work with them.

"4us is just one of the ways we do that, but it has proved a very successful way as our Children's Information Service have had excellent feedback and it has been very well received by readers who find it extremely useful.

"I would urge as many people as possible to feed back their comments and suggestions for future editions, so that we can continue to ensure that we are meeting the needs of this important group of people.
