28/5/2008 - Loyal library users rewarded in new prize scheme

Bookworms, DVD watchers and CD fans will have the opportunity to win some great prizes - just for using their local library.

A new library loyalty card is being rolled out in June for any adult library card holders, who can pick up a card from their local library. Every time they visit the library and borrow, their card will be stamped. Once they collect six stamps, they can enter their card into a quarterly prize draw to win one of the following:

- £250 shopping vouchers

- A family portrait session to the value of £250

- A weekend break to the value of £250

- An adventure day (eg hot air ballooning, rally car driving) to the value of £250

The scheme will run for 12 months and there's no limit to the number of entries people can make –the more times they borrow, the more chances they'll have to win.

Cllr Gary Strong, Cumbria County Council's Cabinet member responsible for libraries, said:

"Cumbria has some of the most enthusiastic library users in the country, and we're always keen to give added incentives for people to use their library. It's a resource for everyone and hopefully this new scheme will entice new people to join up too."
