21/7/2009 - Cumbrian foster care celebration

Cllr Alan Toole, Chair of Cumbria County Council’s Corporate Parenting Panel, plants a silver birch with guest Kirsty at a celebration of foster care in Cumbria held at Center Parcs, Whinfell Forest near Penrith.

More than one hundred and fifty foster carers, looked after children and young people attended the event, organised by the Cumbria County Council to thank foster carers for the fantastic work they do.

Guests enjoyed a buffet lunch followed by a film show, face painting and the chance to go swimming and try out other activities by kind permission of Center Parcs. 

The event marked the launch of a new foster carer recruitment campaign for Cumbria.
