Environmental Partnerships

We recognise that the effective management and enhancement of our rich and varied landscape can’t be done by any one organisation.   We are committed to working in partnership with others to achieve our goals.   We do this in two ways:

  • Through our Environment Fund we support a range of environmental organisations working to protect and enhance the County’s diverse landscape and countryside value.   They include the Arnside and Silverdale, North Pennines, and Solway Coast AONB (Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty) Units, Cumbria Woodlands, and coastal partnerships in the Duddon Estuary, Morecambe Bay and Solway Firth.   Together these manage and support wild upland peat and heather areas, sweeping coastal estuaries, limestone uplands, broadleaf woodlands, lowland meadows and mosslands.   We also support other organisations and practical projects that improve access, information and the quality of the landscape and countryside.
  • By providing expertise and advice when working together with government agencies, charities, and other environmental organisations.
