We recognise that the effective management and enhancement of our rich and varied landscapes, biodiversity and cultural heritage can’t be done by any one organisation. We are committed to working in partnership with others to achieve our goals.
Through our Environment Fund we support a range of environmental organisations working to protect and enhance the county’s diverse landscape, biodiversity and heritage quality. They include the Arnside and Silverdale, North Pennines, and Solway Coast AONBs (Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty), Cumbria Woodlands, coastal partnerships in the Duddon Estuary, Morecambe Bay and Solway Firth, Cumbria Biodiversity Data Centre and Cumbria Biodiversity Action Plan. Together these help to manage wild upland peat and heather areas, sweeping coastal estuaries, limestone uplands, broadleaf woodlands, lowland meadows and mosslands. We also support other organisations and practical projects that improve access, information and the quality of the landscape and countryside.
We also provide expertise and advice when working together with government agencies, charities, and other environmental organisations.
