Cumbria Minerals and Waste Development Framework Changes to Preferred Options Core Strategy

The Minerals and Waste Development Framework (MWDF) will set out Cumbria County Council’s proposals and policies for mineral working and waste management developments up to 2020. The plan relates to those parts of Cumbria that are outside the boundaries of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks. The County Council is now inviting comments on a revised draft of the Framework’s Core Strategy.

In March 2007 the County Council published its Preferred Options Core Strategy and other MWDF documents for consultation. They were the Council’s first draft of the new plan. The Core Strategy had to be revised and the Preferred Options consultations were, therefore, repeated with the Changes to the Preferred Options Core Strategy. This set out the overall strategy and vision of the plan and indicated broad locations for new developments. Please follow the links below to see the documents :

The consultation closed on 14th December 2007.

All comments have been carefully considered and a new draft has been prepared. The Submission Draft Core Strategy will be published in March 2008 and representations will then be accepted until the 30th May.
