Examination
An independent Planning Inspector was appointed to examine the soundness of the Submitted Site Allocations Policies and Proposals Map of the Cumbria Minerals and Waste Development Framework (MWDF). The Examination process formally commenced with the submission of the document to the Secretary of State on 30 April 2010.
The submitted Site Allocations Policies and associated documents, including the Evidence Base, can be viewed by using the links to the left. A summary of all the responses made to the documents can be viewed below - document ED43.
At the Pre-Hearing Meeting the Inspector explained the procedure for examining the submitted documents and presented the final Programme for the Hearings and the Inspector's Schedule of Matters & Issues for Examination. The Hearing sessions of the Examination commenced on Tuesday 28 September 2010 at Cumbria County Council's offices. Examination sessions also took place in the west, east and north of the County, at Whitehaven, Kirkby Thore and Rockcliffe.
Following the close of the Hearing part of the Examination, the County Council produced a Schedule of Changes which incorporated recommended changes discussed at the Hearing and also those recommended by the Inspector in his Report. This report was submitted to the County Council at the beginning of December 2010. The recommendations in the report were binding on the County Council.
