Repeated Regulation 27 Consultation on the Site Allocations Policies and Proposals Map (Autumn 2011)
The Minerals and Waste Development Framework’s Site Allocations Policies and Proposals Map identify the sites and areas of land that will be needed in Cumbria (outside the two National Parks) for working and safeguarding minerals and for managing waste over the period to 2020.
The County Council is now inviting comments on the sites and areas of land that it currently intends to submit to the Secretary of State for consideration. This is a repeated consultation due to a successful legal challenge to the inclusion in Policy 7 of Site M12 (Roosecote sand and gravel quarry extension near Barrow-in-Furness) as an 'Area of Search' without a further round of consultations.
The proposed Site Allocations Policies and its' associated maps are therefore published below for consultation purposes. The Sustainability Appraisal and Habitats Regulations Assessments of these proposals along with the Site Assessments Report are also provided as these are key supporting documents to the proposed policies.
Copies of the Proposals Map(s) which include the proposed Minerals Safeguarding and Consultation Areas, are also provided beneath the documentation. The proposed sites to be allocated are also incorporated into the Proposals Map. The Proposals Map is arranged in four parts and accompanied by eight magnified insert maps showing the proposed sites in their broader local context.
These documents can also be viewed in person at the County Offices in Kendal, The Courts in Carlisle, or at District Council planning offices between 09:00 and 16:00 hours Mondays to Fridays. The Site Allocations Policies document can also be seen at public libraries during their opening hours. Alternatively paper or CD copies of the documents can be obtained by contacting the Minerals and Waste Policy Team (whose contact details can be found at the bottom of this webpage).
Any comments must be made in writing and need to be received no later than Monday 5 December 2011. The email and postal addresses they need to be submitted to can be found at the bottom of this webpage. Comments may be accompanied by a request to be notified at a specified address of any of the following - that a Development Plan Document has been submitted to the Secretary of State for independent examination, the publication of the recommendations of any person appointed to carry out the independent examination and when a Development Plan Document has been adopted by the County Council.
