There are some guidance notes available to assist those who wish to apply to the community waste prevention fund. These notes highlight further the purpose of the fund and provide more information on the type of organisations and activities that it may support. Also highlighted within is the actual process through which all applicants will go.

One of the key drivers of the fund is sustainability. Sustainable development recognises that people’s quality of life and the vitality of local neighbourhoods is dependent on a variety of social and economic factors as well as the quality of the local environment. A sustainability checklist has been developed to encourage you to take an integrated approach to your project and shape it so that it delivers environmental benefits as well as social benefits, jobs and wealth.

When you are ready to move forward with your application you should complete and return a registration of interest form. This will provide us with a brief overview of your proposal and enable us to decide which projects can move into the application stage. All completed registration of interest forms should be returned to:

Louise Woods - Waste Prevention Officer
Cumbria County Council, Barras Lane, Dalston, Cumbria, CA5 7NY
