Recycling Collection Services in Allerdale

An increasing number (73.5%) of households in Allerdale are provided with a garden waste and paper/card kerbside recycling service. 

Wheeled bins are provided and collected on a fortnightly basis.  Grass, weeds, shrubs, small branches, hedge clippings, fruit, flowers, and leaves can be placed in the garden waste bins. The material is taken to one of two outlets in Allerdale where it is converted into compost. Residents can apply for additional garden waste bins.

As well as newspapers, phone books, catalogues, magazines and junk mail, residents can also place cardboard in these bins for recycling.There are also a number of community recycle points throughout the Borough where residents can take their glass, tins, cans, textiles, oil and plastic bottles for recycling. To make it convenient for residents and due to demand this number is increasing.
