Thank you for booking this birth registration appointment(s) through our on-line appointments system.
Before you proceed please read the information below which contains information regardin making, and attending, an appointment to complete the birth registration.
This information is important as it will ensure that you are able to book the appointment at this time and/or can complete the birth registration(s) when you attend the appointment.
- At the end of the on-line booking process, once your appointmet is confirmed, you will be issued a booking reference. Please take a note of this as you may need this in the future.
- A booking confirmation is available at the end of the process which can, if required, be printed for your records.
- If you are unable to attend an appointment for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible. This can be done by contacting the office that you are to attend with your booking reference. The office contact information is on the booking confirmation, or by following this link: http://www.intouch.ccc/registration/wheretofindus/default.asp
- Current legislation states that a child must be registered in the district where it was born, and you should register the birth in the appropriate district within Cumbria. During the booking process please ensure that you choose the correct office to attend.
- If your child was born outside Cumbria (or you wish to register the birth in a different district in Cumbria), we will be able to carry out what is called a ‘Declaration’. A Declaration involves the registrar taking the required information and passing it to the office located in the district where the child was born.
Please note that if you carry out a registration by Declaration we cannot issue any certificates or paper work in relation to the registration as this will be sent direct to you from the office in the appropriate district. A declaration can be carried out at any of the offices in Cumbria.
- A ‘standard’ Birth Certificate is free at the time of registering a birth. However, this only shows limited information and is not suitable for many legal requirements, such as applying for a passport. For legal purposes a ‘full’ Birth Certificate is required. These can be purchased at the time of registration for £3.50 per certificate. Please ensure you bring a suitable method of payment if you wish to purchase a full certificate(s), (we accept cash, cheque or credit/debit card).
