The Civil Partnership ceremony

Skip main menu

The legal process of forming a civil partnership does not include any requirement for a ceremony. However, for those who wish to mark the occasion and share it with family and friends. In Cumbria we offer the choice to add a ceremony to the civil partnership registration.
The ceremony can be adapted to suit the couple and include readings, etc, personal and special to you. Our staff will be able to guide you through the options and possibilities.
There are a wide variety of venues across the county that are legally approved for civil partnership formations. You can of-course arrange to continue your celebrations with a party at these venues, though we regret that such facilities are not available any Register Office.

As stated a Civil Partnership does not require a ceremony as part of the registration procedure and is a entirely secular, non-relligious process. The Civil Partnership Act stipulates that no religious content can be included in the formation of, or, in the ceremony accompanying, a civil partnership.
