Excess postage charges:
Due to recent changes to letter or postal rates/charges, we are experiencing a high number of requests by the post office to pay for the shortfall in postal charges / fees for letters sent to the Cumbria Registration Service.
We cannot accept any liability for items that are either delayed or undelivered as a result of the incorrect postal fee being paid by the sender. We will not pay any additional postage fees on behalf of the sender.
Please ensure that any items posted to the Cumbria Registration Service have the correct postage fee paid at the time of sending.

Appointments system:
Please note that from the 1st January 2007 all offices in Cumbria will be operating an 'appointment only' system for birth and death registrations, and for the giving of marriage or Civil Partnership notices.
If you wish to register either a birth or death, or give notices, please ensure you make an appointment prior to visiting the appropriate office.

Increase in copy certificate fees:
Please note that from the 1st April 2007, all copy birth, death & marriage certificates that are posted to customers and/or paid for by credit/debit card, with require an administration fee of £0.50p per certificate. This is to cover postage and charges to process credit/debit card transactions.
