Please note that from the 1st January 2007 all offices in Cumbria are operating an 'appointment only' system for birth and death registrations, and for the giving of marriage or Civil Partnership notices.
If you wish to register either a birth or death, or give notices to marry or form a civil partnership, please ensure you make an appointment prior to visiting the appropriate office.

The death of a member of the family, a relative or a friend is a distressing and difficult time. Not only do we have to deal with the grief and sadness we have and many other matters to attend too, but there is the important issue of arranging to register the death.
Registering a death is important and needs to be done as soon as is practical, and in the correct way. On these pages there is some of the information that will assist you with the formalities of registering a death.
