Sample / example:
Ladies and Gentlemen, my name is _____________________ Superintendent Registrar and with me is ___________________ the Registrar.
Entrance of bride or bride and groom.
This room in which you are now met has been duly sanctioned, according to law for the celebration of marriages. On behalf of ________________ and _________________ I would like to welcome you all here today to _________________.
You are here to share with ___________________ and ___________________ in the happiness of this, their wedding day and to celebrate the beginning of their new life together as husband and wife. Through their vows, today, which are a formal and public pledge of their love, they are making a commitment to each other and by your presence here you are expressing your support for them.
Before I call upon ____________________ and _____________________ to begin their vows, however, I have to ask that if any person present knows of any lawful impediment to this marriage, they should declare it now.
Will the bride and groom please stand
______________________ and _____________________ before you are joined in matrimony, I have to inform you of the solemn and binding character of the vows you are about to make. Marriage, according to the law of this Country is the union of one man, with one woman, voluntarily entered into, for life, to the exclusion of all others. Marriage is a partnership that requires closeness and distance. Closeness for a couple growing together and distance to allow each partner to be an individual. A good partner in such a marriage will be loving, caring and above all a best friend.
______________________ do you wish, therefore, to take _____________________, here present to be your lawful wedded wife. Do you promise,
To love and care for her,
To support and comfort her through good times, and bad.
Today and Forever.
Answer I do
______________________ do you wish, therefore, to take _______________________, here present to be your lawful wedded husband. Do you promise,
To love and care for him,
To support and comfort him through good times, and bad.
Today and Forever.
Answer I do
You have two declarations to make. Firstly I am going to ask you, each in turn, to declare that there is no lawful reason why you should not be married to each other.
Groom first please, could you repeat after me
I do solemnly declare that I know not of any lawful impediment, why I ___________________ may not be joined in matrimony to __________________.
Now the bride please, could you repeat after me
I do solemnly declare that I know not of any lawful impediment, why I __________________ may not be joined in matrimony to ___________________.
You have both declared your freedom and intention to marry. The second declaration requests that you ask your witnesses/friends/family, here with you today, to witness your contract of marriage that unites you together.
Could I ask the witnesses/everyone to rise, Would the bride and groom turn to face each other
The groom first please, could you repeat after me
I call upon these persons here present to witness that I _____________________ do take thee ______________________ to be my lawful wedded wife.
Now the bride please, could you repeat after me
I call upon these persons here present to witness that I ____________________ do take thee ______________________ to be my lawful wedded husband.
Now the moment when the bride and groom exchange a ring/rings. A wedding ring is the ancient and traditional seal of a marriage. It is an unbroken circle which symbolises unending and everlasting love; and is the outward sign of the lifelong promises that have just been made.
(The groom places the ring on the brides finger) Can you repeat after me
I give you this ring as a token of the vows made between us and as a sign of my love and affection.
The bride replies repeating after the Superintendent Registrar
I receive this ring as a symbol of all that we have promised and all that we shall share.
(Repeat if two rings)
May this ring/these rings, be a reminder of the vows made here today. May you wear it/them with happiness and pride, now and always.
_____________________ and ______________________ you have both made the declarations required by law and have made solemn promises to each other in the presence of your witnesses, family and friends. You have also symbolised your marriage by the joining of hands and the giving and receiving of a ring/rings. May the feelings of love that you have for each other deepen and grow ever stronger throughout the years to come.
It is therefore my pleasure to declare that you are now husband and wife.

On behalf of the Cumbria Registration Service may I wish ___________________ and ____________________ a long and happy future together and I am sure you will have a lovely day, here at _____________________ celebrating with them.
Can I ask you to rise for your bride and groom.
