Zero Harm

The Balfour Beatty Group, which includes Birse Civils, has an ambitious vision known as Zero Harm. The aim is to achieve an industry-leading safety record of zero deaths among employees, as well as zero deaths and zero injuries to the public throughout the entire group by 2012. Safety is, therefore, the top priority on the Carlisle Northern Development Route. All sites will be secure but, because construction activities can attract young people, the company is visiting schools to warn children about the dangers of straying onto construction sites.
