Agreed Route Maps

Skip main menu

One of the purposes of the group is to agree a strategic roads network to enable timber from the forests to be transported to the processing plants efficiently and safely.

This work has resulted in an “Agreed Route Map” which aims to direct timber traffic onto the most appropriate routes, balancing the needs of industry with those of the rural communities. The Agreed Route Map for Cumbria can be downloaded via the links below. Tim Knowles, Cabinet Member for Transport said “by adopting an Agreed Route Map, the council can ensure that timber traffic is kept on the most suitable roads, this helps us to manage our budget and avoids unnecessary road damage".

Cumbria Timber Transport Group will continue to monitor the Agreed Route Map and will amend maps if information is received to suggest it is necessary.  Feedback on the maps can be made to: Andrew Harper, Transport Planning Officer, Cumbria County Council, Parkhouse Building, Baron Way, Kingmoor Business Park, Carlisle, CA6 4SJ or to andrew.harper@cumbria.gov.uk
