The Children’s Services, Adult & Cultural Services and Scheduled Bus Service transport contracts have been issued for tender together in order that the potential for full day work operations can be explored.   All vehicles used on registered local bus services must comply with the “Public Service Vehicle Accessibility Regulations”.

Only Secondary or College routes can be registered – primary school routes must be private hire. Routes carrying primary school children will not be considered for registration. Remember that you must consult this office before registering any school service. Please remember to clearly indicate whether route is to be private hire or registered.

On certain registered routes it will be necessary to impose picking up and/or setting down restrictions in order to protect the revenue of other operators’ commercial services.  Full details will be given at the time of awarding contracts and may be added or revoked at a later date depending on changes in the network or commercial services.

We are keen to encourage operators to submit composite tender bids comprising of more than one route.  Please refer to the “Instructions for Tendering” for further information.
