Bus Service Changes September 2008

The following bus services will change from 1 September 2008.

CHANGES TO SUPPORTED BUS SERVICES IN WEST CUMBRIA

6 : Muncaster   – Whitehaven via Ravenglass, Seascale, West Cumberland Hospital

X6 : Whitehaven – Millom via St Bees and Seascale

-         Extra journeys from Whitehaven to Seascale at 10:45 and 12:45, with extra return trips from Seascale at 11:35 and on Saturdays at 13:35.

-         Current 13:30 from Whitehaven to Muncaster will run 15 minutes later and will run via St Bees (not West Cumberland Hospital). The return trip from Ravenglass will depart 28 minutes later.

-         15:13 and 17:56 from Whitehaven replaced by single trip at 16:45 which will run to Seascale, not Ravenglass.

-         16:58 and 18:45 Saturday journeys from Seascale replaced by single trip at 17:48.

-         Contracted journeys continue to be operated by 3D Travel.           

-         Changes to commercial Journeys operated by Stagecoach :

-         The 07:50 and 17:56 journeys will only run South of Thornhill on College Days. 

-         The 07:50 will now be extended to run to West Lakes College.

-         The 14:25 journey is withdrawn.

-         Sunday service (X6) unchanged.

20 : St Bees – Whitehaven

-         10:45 and 12:45 journeys from Whitehaven to St Bees withdrawn and replaced by a new 11:45 journey

-         11:13 and 13:13   journeys from St Bees to Whitehaven withdraw and replaced by a new 12:13 journey

-         Extra later journey at 16:45 from Whitehaven to St Bees on Saturdays 

-         New operator 3C Travel (replaces Stagecoach)

-         Sunday service provided by the X6 is unchanged.

22 : Parton – Frizington via Whitehaven Town Centre (Evenings)

-         this new service will replace all County Council supported services in Whitehaven after 20:27 in the evening.

-         The Service will run from Lowca via Parton to the Town Centre then to Frizington via Kells, Woodhouse, Mirehouse shops, West Cumberland Hospital and Cleator Moor.

22 : Whitehaven – Frizington via Mirehouse (Sundays and Bank Holidays)

-         This new service will run from Whitehaven to Frizington via Kells, Woodhouse, Mirehouse shops, West Cumberland Hospital and Cleator Moor. 

-         It will run every 2 hours from the Town Centre 08:45 to 16:35 and from Frizington 09:10 to 17:10.

-         It replaces the County Council supported journeys on Sunday Service 1 to Kells.

34 : Cockermouth – Slatefell

-         09:23 will become 09:28 and will be run by Reay’s, not Stagecoach.

-         13:11 will become 13:28 and will be run by Reay’s, not Stagecoach.

-         15:28 from Main Street will additionally operates on Schooldays.

-         19:32 from Main Street will no longer operate.

-         AA Travel journeys taken over by Reay’s Coaches.

-         Other journeys unchanged.   

35 : Cockermouth – Workington via Great Broughton

-         09:45 Cockermouth – Workington is under review.

-         14:45 Cockermouth – Workington and 15:45 Workington to Cockermouth will both additionally run on Schooldays (currently Saturdays and School Holidays only). This will fill a current 4½ hour gap in the service to Workington and a 3 hour gap in the service to Cockermouth on Schooldays.

-         New 20:37 service from Cockermouth to Workington via Great Broughton (operated by Stagecoach).

-         20:58 Broughton Moor – Cockermouth and 23:15 Cockermouth – Broughton Moor withdrawn.

-         Most journeys operated by Reay’s Coaches instead of AA Travel.

36 : Cockermouth – Workington via Greysouthen and High Brigham

-         09:40 Cockermouth to Workington will depart at 09:45 and be operated by Reay’s Coaches not Stagecoach.

-         12:30 Workington to Cockermouth will depart at 12:45 and be operated by Reay’s Coaches not Stagecoach.

-         13:40 Cockermouth to Workington will depart at 13:45 and be operated by Reay’s Coaches not Stagecoach.

-         14:45 Workington to Cockermouth and 15:45 Cockermouth – Workington will both additionally run on Schooldays (currently Saturdays and School Holidays only). This will fill a current 3 hour gap in the service to Workington and 4 hour gap in the service to Cockermouth on Schooldays.

-         An extra journey will operate at 08.02 from High Brigham to Cockermouth offering a journey to work currently not available (the current first arrival in Cockermouth is at 09:26).

39 Aspatria Area to Carlisle

-         Wednesday and Saturday service withdrawn – Tuesday and Friday retained.

-         Service will additional serve Great Orton on Tuesday and Friday (currently Wednesday and Saturday service). 

46 : Workington – Salterbeck (Evenings & Sundays)

47 : Workington – Seaton (Evenings & Sundays)

50 : Workington - Moorclose Town (Evenings & Sundays)

-         Evenings unchanged.

-         Sunday timetable revised in line with ‘Transforming Passenger Transport’ criteria to run 09:20 to 17:40 instead of 15:05 to 22:15.

47 : Anthorn – Wigton (Tuesdays)

-         New Operator Reay’s Coaches.

-         Timetable unchanged.

56 : Maryport Town Service

-         Due to the Commercial registration of some journeys on this service, the service is under review.

57 : Maryport Town Service

-          08:31 will be run by Ellenvale Coaches and only operates on Schooldays.

-         08:50 – 14:50 service now operated on a commercial basis by Stagecoach with a revised timetable.

-         15:10 - 17:10 timetable unchanged.

58 : Maryport – Cockermouth via Dearham

-         Major Revision to route and timetable.

-         New more direct route from Maryport to Cockermouth, reduces journey time from 49 to 25 minutes.

-         Daytime service increases from 5 to 7 trips.

-         New service with slight reduction in frequency from Tallentire, Bridekirk and Papcastle to Cockermouth. No direct link from these areas to Maryport.

-         05:50 Maryport to Cockermouth and 06:25 Cockermouth to Maryport withdrawn.

-         Sycamore Road in Maryport and Row Brow in Dearham no longer served (but all journeys will serve Town Head in Dearham). 

-         Extra journeys to Cockermouth Hospital.

-         Evening service after 18:30 withdrawn. 

60 : Skinburness – Maryport via Silloth

-         The first journey from Maryport will operate 20 minutes later at 07:25. 

-         All other journeys will operate 10 minutes earlier throughout to improve connections with the Service 30/31 to Workington and Whitehaven at Maryport. 

-         Contrary to some reports in the media, a Sunday service is not being introduced on this route. A Sunday service was tendered, but would have cost £218 per day, and was therefore felt to not offer good value for the funding required. 

79 : Keswick – Seatoller

-         20:50 Keswick to Seatoller and 21:15 Seatoller to Keswick withdrawn.

-         07:15 and 13:25 Keswick to Seatoller and 07:45 and 13:55 Seatoller to Keswick will operate commercially until November and then be withdrawn.

-         Contrary to some reports in the media, the rest of the service, which is provided on a commercial basis by Stagecoach, will continue to operate. 

-         Winter Sunday service unchanged.

86 : Keswick Town Service

-         Service to Windebrowe Avenue, Threlkeld Quarry and Portinscale withdrawn.

-         Portinscale continues to be served by the Service 77/77A, 4 times a day between Easter and the end of the Autumn half term holiday.

-         Between November and Easter a new service will provided three trips a day from Keswick to Portinscale at 10:10, 13:10 and 17:10. 

101 : Cockermouth – Rose Lane

-         Service unchanged.                                                                  

217 : (Cleator Moor -) Frizington – Cockermouth

-         07:40 Cockermouth – Cleator Moor and all journeys after 14:40 withdrawn.

-         Three trips a day running approximately every 2 hours from Cockermouth and Frizington.

-         At suggestion of local user group, service will only run to/from Frizington, with connections there to/from Cleator Moor.

-         Link to Ennerdale Bridge restored.

-         New operator Rosie’s travel (replacing Reay’s Coaches).

218 : Frizington – Workington (Friday)

  -       Timetable unchanged.

-         J.B. Pickthall take over from Ratcliffe Buses as operator from August.

222 : Whitehaven – Workington via Pica and Gilgarran

-         Timetable totally revised – linked to carriage of pupils to schools in Workington.

-         Early morning and late afternoon service withdrawn.

-         Daytime journeys now operate Monday to Saturday (previously Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday only).

-         New service to High Harrington.

-         No longer serves Distington.

-         New operator Rosie’s Travel (takes over from Stagecoach).

604 : Uldale – Wigton via Ireby

-         Friday service withdrawn.

-         Timetable on Tuesday totally revised with single trip to Wigton and re-numbered 47.

-         New operator Reays Coaches (takes over from Town & Village Link).

830 : Egremont – St Bees 

835 : Egremont Town Service

836 : Egremont - Braystones

-         Extra journey on Town Service to Smithfield and Orgill at 14:10.

-         New operator John Hoban Travel.

949 : Cockermouth – Buttermere (Dial a Ride)

-         Will become part of the new Rural Wheels scheme – trips will be booked via Rural Wheels call centre, not through the operator.

X5 : Workington – Penrith via Keswick

-         New 20:15 Workington to Cockermouth replaces 19:50 Workington to Keswick.

-         New 21:15 Workington to Penrith via Keswick – current 21:50 Keswick to Penrith will now run at 22:06.

-         Timetable now offers hourly departures from Workington to Cockermouth at quarter past the hour from 05:15 to 22:15.

-         21:35 and 22:35 from Penrith to Workington are re-timed to run earlier from stops after Keswick. 

-         The 22:35 will arrive in Workington in time for 23:56 departure on Service 300 to Whitehaven.

Whitehaven Evening Services (1; 2A; 3; 17B)

-         All existing journeys after 20:30 withdrawn and replaced by a new Service 22.

Whitehaven Sunday Service 

1 : Whitehaven - Kells

-         Existing Service 1 to Kells (14:35-20:35) withdrawn and replaced by new Service 22.

2 : Whitehaven – Lowca via Parton and Bransty

-         New service 3 times a day on Sundays 09:50; 13:50 and 15:50.

3 : Whitehaven – Mirehouse

-         New service 3 times a day on Sundays 10:10; 14:10 and 16:10.

-         Mirehouse shops and Latrigg Road also served by new Service 22. 

Changes to Stagecoach Commercial Services

Service 22 : Whitehaven – Egremont

-         The first trip from Whitehaven to Egremont will run 6 minutes earlier.

Service 12   : Whitehaven – Egremont

-         Service 12 re-numbered Service 30A. 

-         Earlier journey Whitehaven – Egremont.

-         Most other journeys revised to run 30 minutes earlier.

Service 17   : Whitehaven - Frizington

-         Service re-numbered 31A.

-         Timetable unchanged except replacement of current evening service with new evening and Sunday Service 22.

Service 30/31 : Maryport – Thornhill / Frizington via Workington and Whitehaven

-         Service 31A re-numbered Service 31 and runs via Moorclose rather than Derwent Howe.

-         Some early morning Saturday journeys will no longer operate. 

-         Sunday timetable revised. 

-         Times altered Maryport – Thornhill. 

-         Extra daytime journeys Maryport – Whitehaven offering hourly service in conjunction with service 301.

-         Evening Service withdrawn.

Service 48 : Workington – Northside

-         Improved daytime service but later afternoon service withdrawn.

-         Hourly Workington at 15 past the hour 09:15 until 14:15 Monday to Saturday.

-         Hourly from Northside 25 past hour 08:25 to 14:25 Monday to Saturday.

Service 50 / 51 : Workington – Moorclose

-         Service 50A numbered 50 and existing Service 50 withdrawn.

-         Service 51A withdrawn.

-         Daytime service on both route reduced from every 20 to every 30 minutes – but Moorclose is now served by two service 31 an hour.

Service 300 : Carlisle – Whitehaven

-         Sunday timetable revised – to offer an hour service between Whitehaven and  Maryport in conjunction with Service 30).

Service 505 : Coniston – Ambleside via Hawkshead

-         17:20 Ambleside – Coniston and 17:55 Coniston – Ambleside withdrawn.
