The North West’s Regional Rural Delivery Framework aims to ensure strengthened joint working at the regional, sub-regional and local level to deliver the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs’ (Defra’s) rural policy, in line with broader Government policy objectives in the region.
NW Regional Rural Delivery Framework
The final Framework, agreed by partners, was submitted to Defra on the 24th April. The Framework will result in:
the communication of clear priorities for rural delivery, set within the national policy context but reflecting regional, sub-regional and local needs and opportunities
- simplification of the way services are delivered to customers through improved working between delivery organisations
- greater coherence between rural policy and other regional strategies and delivery plans
- better alignment of regional policy and delivery with local priorities and actions
North WestHeadline Rural Priorities
Maximising the economic potential of the region’s rural areas
Supporting sustainable farming and food
Improving access to affordable rural housing
Ensuring fair access to services for rural communities
Empowering rural communities and addressing rural social exclusion
Enhancing the value of our rural environmental inheritance
The development of the Framework has been driven by:
the North West Rural Board, supported by the Rural Practitioner’s Steering Group, which provides strategic direction and co-ordinates action by partners to address agreed priorities.
- the enhanced North West Rural Affairs Forum, with the Executive Group, which provides stakeholder and customer involvement.
Partners are already taking positive steps to achieve the Framework and convert the words into action.
