Cumbria County Council's procurement strategy
The purpose of Cumbria County Council’s corporate procurement strategy is to ensure that the Council uses procurement effectively to deliver its mission and key priorities.
The strategy provides a framework for all stakeholders and partners to implement the Council’s approach to the procurement of goods, works and services. This includes elected members, corporate directors, senior managers, staff, trade unions, procurement specialists, and suppliers in the private, voluntary and social enterprise sectors.
The strategy provides a clear corporate policy framework, management arrangements and performance information for all procurement undertaken by, or in partnership with, the Council.
National procurement strategy
A strategy, produced in partnership with the local government agency, is designed to ensure that the £40 billion spent by councils each year is managed with efficiency, innovation, resourcefulness and prudence.
