Can you tell me how much does it cost to produce and distribute YourCumbria?
(Mr D. Ingram, Grange-over-Sands)
Each magazine costs a total of 18 pence to produce and deliver to your door. We distribute every issue to 230,000 households in the county. To help reduce costs we try to generate as much as we can through advertising revenue. The last issue brought in £3,600 from advertising which meant the total cost for the last issue was £35,000. We hope you find this good value for money and an effective way of keeping up to date with county council news.
In the Winter 2007 issue you reported on the new green energy contract which says that all county council buildings are being supplied with energy from renewable sources. Can you categorically state that the supply to the county council from the National Grid is totally green?
(Ms M. Emery via email)
We’re sorry if this article was misleading. Although we can’t categorically state that the supply is totally green, we are procuring our forecast consumption via suppliers from renewable sources and therefore contributing to the government’s target to reduce CO2 emissions by 20% by 2010. Although green electricity can be purchased, the supply from the National Grid is actually a mixture of brown and green.
