Readers have their say

In the last issue we asked you to let us know what you thought of YourCumbria. We were delighted that nearly 500 of you returned the readers survey.

Here’s what you thought:

  • Include more information from the police and health services - Good Idea 73%, Bad Idea 8%, No Opinion 18%
  • Include more about consultations and how you can have your say on council decisions that affect you - Good Idea 73%, Bad Idea 7%, No Opinion 19%
  • More comment on the issues facing Cumbria from the councillors you elect - Good Idea 69%, Bad Idea 11%, No Opinion 19%
  • Include more information about job vacancies with local councils - Good Idea 46%, Bad Idea 25%, No Opinion 29%
  • Increase the number of issues of Your Cumbria from 3 to 6 a year - Good Idea 41%, Bad Idea 48%, No Opinion 11%
  • Expand the A-Z section, with more detail about the different services listed (and have fewer stories as a result) - Good Idea 34%, Bad Idea 42%, No Opinion 24%
  • Join up with district councils to create a new single magazine about councils in Cumbria - Good Idea 31%, Bad Idea 51%, No Opinion 18%
  • More about council services, fewer general interest stories about Cumbria - Good Idea 28%, Bad Idea 49%, No Opinion 22%
  • Stop the recipes and competitions - Good Idea 22%, Bad Idea 54%, No Opinion 24%
  • Increase the number of issues from 3 to 12 a year, but make the magazine significantly shorter as a result - Good Idea 10%, Bad Idea 79%, No Opinion 11%

As you can see, you gave three of our ideas a lot of support. We’re taking this on board. Already in this issue we’ve got more coverage the police and health services than ever before. We’re working on the other two as well, look out for more developments in future issues.

And congratulations to the winner of the prize draw for a Made in Cumbria hamper: Mr D A Corkery from Barrow.
