Windermere Regenerated

Residents, visitors and local businesses in Windermere will be enjoying the benefits of a £2million town centre enhancement this summer.

Cumbria County Council has worked with Cumbria Tourism to create the scheme which was heavily influenced by input from local people and businesses.

The work includes new high-quality surfaces, street furniture and lighting, to make a better and safer environment for local people and visitors alike. The scheme also includes improvements to Windermere’s main junction on the A591.

Cumbria County Council invested £750,000 in the work. The North West Development Agency provided £1million and the rest came from the European Regional Development Fund.
